Bauer, Paul Louis, 64, lost his battle with cancer in the early morning hours of Monday August 8th, at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton with his daughter by his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Augusta and Walter Bauer and moved with them to Fort Lauderdale when he was 13. He entered the Air Force in 1965 and spent several years stationed in Japan and completed two tours of Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and returned to Ft Lauderdale where he spent 32 years with BellSouth. After retirement he opened his own business, Paul's Southern Cycle to which he dedicated the last 11 years of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Bauer, his son-in-law, Samuel Hall, and his grandson, Riley Hall. He lost his beloved 6-year-old granddaughter, Gwendolyn Hall, on January 31 of this year and the thought of seeing her again gave him solace at the end of his life. Services will be held Saturday August 13, at Kalis-McIntee Funeral Home, 2505 North Dixie Highway in Wilton Manors at 10 a.m., where friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. It will be followed by a reception at 1 p.m. at Paul's Southern Cycle, 1174 NW 51st St., Ft. Lauderdale. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his granddaughter's memorial scholarship fund: The Gwendolyn Olivia Hall Scholarship Fund, c/o Elena McKay, 3980 NW 114th Ave., Coral Springs, FL 33065.
