PETER POMPURA, 67, entered into eternal peace on February 24th, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He has gone to join his beautiful wife Sherry and parents John and Mary. Pete was retired from Broward County Schools where his passion for teaching science for over 30 years will be remembered. "Mr. P" taught at many high schools and was a favorite teacher and inspiration to so many students. He had a true gift for leaving an impression not only on his students, but on all those who knew him. Before relocating to South Florida, he lived in Youngstown, Ohio. Pete was a true rock and roll enthusiast. He played bass guitar for a popular local band in Ohio called The Pied Pipers before he began his teaching career. Pete met the love of his life, Sherry, as a teenager where they were featured dancers on the local American Bandstand. They were married and spent over 40 years together. He is survived by his three children, Brian, Shelly (Adriel) Fandino and Tricia (Rob) Salisbury. "Papa Pete" was the VERY BEST grandpa to Ashley, Robbie, Brooke, Sophie and Chloe. He is also survived by his siblings John and Mary, in-laws Helen (Charles) Johnson and Charles (Joanne) Dickun. He was brother-in-law to Sue (Bruce-predeceased) Travers and Charlie (Leslie) Dickun and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. We feel honored that he was part of our lives. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 1st at 7:00pm. Victory Christian Center, 3499 NW 2nd Ave (aka NW Boca Raton Blvd) Boca Raton, 33431. (561) 391-2800.
