Richard Jacobson Obituary

Jacobson Jacobson, Richard Daniel was born April 24, 1940, in Madison, WI to Daniel and Beatrice Gessler Jacobson, and unexpectedly died on a road biking trip with loved ones in Hvar, Croatia on May 31, 2011. He was 71. Jac, as many friends knew him, grew up in Madison and attended Madison West High School before going to the University of Wisconsin in Madison for his undergraduate degree. Upon graduating, he moved to the Chicago area where he spent the next 35 years of his life; there, in 1967 he married Rebecca Ratcliff and raised 2 children Brian and Christine. His career as an international Certified Public Accountant was spent at the offices of Grant Thornton, starting in Chicago and finishing as managing partner of the Fort Lauderdale/Weston, FL office, where he moved in 1999. He retired in 2005. Jac truly loved life. His life was filled with a joie de vivre admired by those around him. He was passionate about adventurous travel, played tennis or golf daily with his many friends from Weston, and loved road biking, good food and wine. He was optimistic, enthusiastic, and generous. He was a loving father, a supportive partner, a trusted advisor, and a treasured friend. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Christine Jacobson and Brian and wife Jen Jacobson; his elder sister Nancy and husband Dennis O??Hora; his younger sister Joanna Jacobson and husband Stuart Richter; his companion Jeanna Gutierrez, and numerous cousins and nieces, all of whom loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to either the Chicago Botanic Garden (http://www.chicagobotanic.org/donate/index.php or 847-835-8333), to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association (http://associationdatabase.com/aws/SCAA/pt/sp/donate or 866- 972-SCAA), or a charity of choice. Sincerest condolences to his lovely family and friends.
Although I only knew him for about 6 years, it was a truly inspiring experience. He was always so positive in his daily life. Everyday was a gift and he enjoyed every one of them.
He was a loyal friend and I will miss him.

Sincerest condolences on Dick's passing.
He was a great guy - and the first Grant person I met prior to merging our firm in Miami with Grant. He was always personable and brilliant!
