Richard Lee "Pappy" Barlitt, age 80, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at his daughter's residence in Powell. He was born on March 1, 1933 in Fort Lauderdale, FL to the late Harl Reed and Laura Alsolena (Whelan) Barlitt. He was an aircraft technician and retired from the Ohio ARMY National Guard, served in the U S NAVY, the AIR FORCE Reserves and was actively involved in the Johnstown Independent Baptist Church. Richard is survived by three daughters; Paula L. (Ray) Campell of Westerville, Carla J. (Tim) O'Brien of Marengo, Megan R. (Jeff) Murphy of Powell, two sons; Bryan W. Barlitt of Sunbury, Travis L. (Patty) Barlitt of Colorado Springs, CO, seven grandchildren; Anna, Katie, Mason, Alex, Garrett, Sophia, Olivia, three great-grandchildren; Gabriella, Gracelyn, Gavin, many nieces and nephews, one step son; David (Jackie) Johnson of Amesville, one step daughter; Ann Marie (Scott) Clayton of Bellefontaine, and three step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother; Harl Reed Barlitt, Jr. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at The Johnstown Independent Baptist Church 7937 Johnstown-Alexandria Road, Johnstown, with Pastor Dan Scarberry officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Blendon Township Cemetery in Westerville. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice or to the church. Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 North Main Street, Johnstown, Ohio is in charge of arrangements. There will be an online memorial at www.cksammons.com.
