Thomas Erwin Cazel died on March 8, 2014 in Fort Lauderdale. Tom was 69 years old. Born outside of Chicago, Illinois, he was the fourth child of Wylbur and Thordes Cazel. Tom and his family moved to Lighthouse Point, Florida in the late 1950s. He attended Pine Crest School starting in 8th grade. While at Pine Crest, Tom excelled in athletics, being named an All American diver. He graduated from Cornell University in 1967 with a degree in English. He then earned a law degree from the University of Miami and subsequently began a distinguished career as a criminal defense attorney in Fort Lauderdale. Tom will be remembered as an adoring father, a dear friend to many and a dedicated mentor. Surviving Tom are his two loving daughters, Brittany, her husband, Jean-Sebastien, and their children, and Lindsay and her husband Len; former wife, Sharalyn, mother-in-law, Laverne, and and brother, Jack. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date.
