W. Holcomb Obituary

Holcomb Holcomb, W. Walker 04/20/1963 - 06/06/2011 World-class Leaderman and Mate, Winner of the 2002 IGFA Rolex World Championship, Marlin University Instructor, and Marlin Magazine Contributor Walker Holcomb passed away on 06 June 2011. Born in Winter Park, FL, Walker grew up fishing with his brothers and turned his passion for fishing into a career. Walker traveled the world and impacted everyone who crossed his path with his knowledge of fishing and sense of humor, but most of all, with his tremendous heart. Walker's love for animals was evident to all by the love and compassion he showed to the strays wandering around his fishing destinations, but he had no greater love than for his loyal dog Tyche, who still sits at the window awaiting his return. Walker's life and legacy continues to be celebrated by his best friend and love, Kate Holcomb, and a multitude of friends worldwide. A celebration of Walker's life is being planned for July.

The strange part about this is why in the world you popped into my mind and Stayed there for a few days. For whatever reason, here it is like 5+ years later and having only known you for like 20 days or something, I wouldn't have wanted any other way. Those situations tend to force closeness with each other and you, well after the initial shock of meeting Walker for the first time, were amazing. I do miss you, Hope Heaven is amazing !!

i can't believe my eyes. I went too long without calling. I owe a lot of knowledge to you. I will miss our sometimes pointless conversations. I knew when we met at Gulfstream tackle in Deland that you were even more of a fishing psyco than I. thank you for your friendship and being an awesome inspiration to the fishing world. it is a lesser place without you brother.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Walker during my many visits to New Smyrna Beach. Walker was the only friend of the Pisulas that reached out and extended his friendship to me. Thank you for being so kind and fun and for all the laughs. Your a good man Walker. Say hello to Uncle George for me! You will be missed.

Thanks for all the greatest!!!

I loved you like a brother, Walker & I always will. I've learned so much from you throughout the years...about life, true friendship and, well, you taught me everything I know about fishing. If it hadn't been for you taking me under your wing all those years ago, I would have missed out on so much. I owe the best years of my life to you! I'll never forget you and all you've taught me. Well, you "GOT R' DONE"...so, rest easy my brother! I'll see you again someday...

Ill miss you uncle walker. My favorite memory of you was when you came over to my house and went bass fishing with me and marco and you caught th most and biggest bass out of all of us and you used a snook rod haha. You had a magic touch for fishing and i dont know how you did it. You are truly a fishing legend. Love you buddy. Rest in peace.

Rest in peace my friend...I will forever remember you standing at my side as we battled monsters of the deep...knot for knot...mono vs braid...top end vs my Penn 6/0...Momoi vs The newest line...hottest swivels...we shared a love for rigging boats...I was the guy who loves it just as much as you brother...Dreams of rigging reels...checking lines...knots...always checking the knots...rigging baits that swim better than the real thing...creating lifelike baits...a love and a reverence for natures gifts...

Thanks again for all the lessons learned...

It goes without saying how much of an impact "Uncle Walker" had on our children and us. He will be missed more than anyone can ever imagine. He taught us all so much, even beyond teaching "Little G" to cast across our canal or "WeeWoo" her good place in the world and his heart. We traveled to many of the worlds best fishing spots and had some of the best times of our lives we love you more than you would ever know.
