Winslow Wedin Obituary

Wedin, Winslow Elliott, passed away Wednesday, February 13, at the age of 79. He was an artist/architect who believed that Art is in All Activities. He began his architectural career in 1957 after graduating from the University of Minnesota and opening his own studio. One of his most noteworthy buildings is ENSCULPTIC, an environmental, sculptural home in Minnesota built in 1970. He was also a Professor of Architecture at Auburn University and taught at Florida State before being one of three professors who started an architectural school in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Winslow moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1981 as an architect and later continued teaching as a professor at Lynn University and Palm Beach State College. He was one of the founding members of the Futures Group of Palm Beach County and The Friends of Kebyar, and served as President of the Palm Beach Watercolor Society. At the time of his death, he was still creating art in all media; in sculpture, acrylic, watercolor, foam, computer and many mixed techniques always true to his credo, Design everything leaving nothing to chance. Winslow is survived by those who were blessed from his love and teaching, including his wife of 56 years, Carolina, his daughter and son, Maya and Boyd, their spouses, Jack and Erika, three grandchildren, Kayla, Connor and Kenley, his brother, Gary and nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Winslow and Carol Wedin Fund for Art Supplies for Schools c/o Palm Beach Watercolor Society, PO Box 1916, Boca Raton FL 33429.

Dearest Carol, Deborah, Maya & Boyd~
Winslow was such a great teacher of Life- & I was just a neighborhood friend of his kids from age 11. And, we are all still friends 40 yrs later. He would talk to me as if I were an adult or an equal. I understood, because he expected me to understand. I treat the kids in my family the same way. Some legacies are subtle & the most important.
Love to all. Carla

I just read that WIn has left us, he was a very inspiring man to me. I met him in the late 1960's and because of him he introduced me to client which allowed me to open my own business which has been such a blessing in my life. I thank you and Win for many years of success. You may not remember me, but we have met, but many years ago. Win was a great man!!

Carol, Boyd, Maya, I am so sorry to learn of Winslow's passing. My deepest sympathy to all of your family. Winslow was a mentor to me, full of kindness and integrity. I'll never forget working with him on many art assignments and the community theater set for "Pippin". Winslow was always willing to share his design ideas with fellow artists. I know his enthusiasm for life will be with us always.
