Demos Demos, Kathryn 87, passed away December 11, 2012. Born in Pittsburgh, PA., into a large, loving Greek family, she moved at the age of 21 to Miami, FL., where she met the love of her life, James P. Demos. The two were the first couple married at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Miami, and they enjoyed 54 wonderful years before James passed away in 2004. One of the founding members of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in North Miami, Kathryn was active in her church and community. She directed and sang in the church choir and belonged to the Daughters of Penelope for many years. Known as Yiayia to everyone, Kathryn was a doting grandmother and a loving, kind and compassionate mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was always at the center of family functions and reveled in the rich traditions of her Greek culture. But her favorite part of every week came when she joined a close circle of friends for a day of cards. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Kathryn is survived by her daughter Dianne (Terry) Demos-Hutchins; grandchildren K.C. Hutchins, Jamie Hutchins and Terry (Gillian) Hutchins Jr.; great-grandchildren Andrew and Deanna; and sisters Tina Kourempis and Aggie Zappas. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home So., 2401 SW 64th Ave., Davie. Funeral Mass 10 a.m., Thursday, December 20, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 12230 N.W. 2nd Ave., North Miami.
