Russell "Bud" Moore, 83 of Pompano Beach passed away on August 15, 2013. Born in Opheime, Montana, he had been a local resident since 1955 after moving here from Ohio. He was an amazing and loving man, who loved the Elks Lodge in Pompano Beach and devoted much of his time and effort to helping the lodge serve the community. One of Bud's biggest accomplishments was being the founder of the "Good ol boys" which is a group of members who loved fishing. Each year they went to Okeechobee and fished. They then brought all the fish back to the lodge. They held a "Good ol boys" fish fry and all proceeds went to the Elks and to charities supported by the Elks. For 24 years they raised thousands of dollars for various charities through the Elks. Bud retired from the Singer Sewing Machine Company in 1990 and started an exterminating business called Moore Quality Pest Control. He serviced most of the old Pompano residents. His customers loved him as much as he loved what he did. He was also a loyal supporter of the Pompano American Legion and VFW. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; his daughter Conni (Rob) Bessette; his grandchildren Kristin Brown and Adam Thofner; his great-grandson Scott Steven Thofner; his sister H. Jeanne (Bill) Mountsier; many nieces and nephews, and by his faithful companion, Buddy as well as many members of the Elks and the Pompano Beach community. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 7 pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 N. Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 2331 N.E. 26 Ave., Pompano Beach. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the "Pompano Beach Elks Lodge 1898, Good Old Boys", 700 N.E. 10th Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060
