Joseph C. Bavaro, resident of Coconut Creek and formerly of Dobbs Ferry, NY passed away on Friday, April 4th, 2014. Born in Weehawken, New Jersey; the son of Joseph and Virginia Bavaro; he was raised and educated in Hoboken, NJ and proudly served in the Merchant Marines in WW II. Mr. Bavaro had a long and successful career as a restauranteur partner and chef primarily with Hartsdale Diner for upwards of 45 years. He retired from Scarsdale Security where he spent his last 10 years before relocating to Florida. He was an avid fan of the WWE; he also enjoyed sports on television. Joseph was preceded in death by son Joseph, Jr. He is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Debbie Barchella; two grandchildren, Jay and Sunny. He also leaves behind his brothers Michael (Connie) and Nicholas (Mary Ann) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 11:00am with a Memorial Service at 12 noon at the Glick Family Funeral Home, Boca Raton. A New York Memorial Service will be planned for later in May.
