Joyce Marie Courson 84, passed away at home in Round Rock, TX on June 3, 2014. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada,she lived in Detroit, where her father ran a pharmacy.She grew up in Pompano, where family moved for her mothers health.Obtaining her masters degree from the University of Florida, she became a schoolteacher in Ft. Lauderdale, retiring as a vice principal after 40 years.She enjoyed playing piano and violin.She married Gerald Richard Courson in 1962, & lived in Plantation.She moved to TX, to be closer to family after Gerald's death in 2007.Survived by her son Gerald,his wife Diamantina, grandchildren, Angelica and Maxwell. Visitation,Tues.5-7PM at the T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home. Funeral service Wednesday 10:00 AM at the funeral home led by Rev. Margaret Johnson of Plantation United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Pompano Beach Cemetery.
