Schnell, Dr. Roger Glenn passed away on Saturday, June 23 from complications of pancreatic cancer. Roger was born in Sheboygan, WI on November 21, 1935 to Wilma and Fred Schnell. He graduated from Beloit College, Beloit, WI (where he met his future wife Kathy) and the University of Florida Medical School. He completed his medical internship at the University of Indiana and his Fellowship in Neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In 1966 he joined Dr. Willis Dickens and Dr. James Perry practicing Medical Neurology until he retired in January 2012. Roger enjoyed many interests including golf, tennis, traveling and keeping up with the Green Bay Packers but philately (stamp collecting) was his major hobby. He earned worldwide recognition and awards as an international and national stamp judge and exhibiter and served on the boards of the American Philatelic Society. He was a member of the Down Town Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church where he sang in the Cathedral Choir for 34 years. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy of 52 years; daughter Susan; son John (Charlotta); and four grandchildren, John Vilhelm, John Henry, Josephine and Juliette. Roger was a fun loving, compassionate and caring physician, family man and friend to all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the Music Department of the First Presbyterian Church, 401 SE 15th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.
