Resnick, Abraham, a native New Jerseyan, was a noted author and educator specializing in K through 12 social studies education. Dr. Resnick has had an outstanding career as a professor, writer, supervisor, consultant and professional leader in the social sciences. His writings include texts, trade books for children and teachers' curriculum. Dr. Resnick's graduate work was completed at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York and Rutgers University. He received numerous awards and honors for his public service. He was Senior Professor of Education at Jersey City State College (New Jersey) and for many years was the Director of the Instructional Materials Center, Rutgers Graduate School of Education. In 1975 he was the recipient of that school's Alumni Award for Distinguished Service to Education. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a weatherman from 1943-1946. Abe is survived by his wife Gilda and by daughters Gina Steinway (Daniel) of Rockville, MD, Janice Resnick (Frederick Goldstein) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and stepdaughter Lori Coven of La Costa, CA. Also surviving are grandchildren - Daniel Eilen, Andres Malavenda, Gabe Malavenda, Allyssa Steinway and Matt Steinway. Services - Thursday, July 26 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ - arrangements by Gutterman Warheit Memorial Chapel, Boca Raton, FL.
