Martin, Mary Philbrook Rubino went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2012 at Hospice By The Sea in Pompano Beach. She was born on December 31, 1925 to Odella Lavigne Daoust and Alfred Daoust in Hinsdale, MA. She was later adopted by her mother's second husband, E.R. Philbrook. In 1947 she married Daniel "Chick" Rubino from Montclair, NJ in Hollywood, FL.. They were longtime Hollywood residents and the owners of the New Plantation Restaurant in Hallandale. Mr. Rubino was also the owner of Charles W. Morgan's Seafood Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Mary was also the owner of Pucci's Italian Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale and worked in several south Florida banks. After her husband's death, she married Donald Martin and they lived in Murphy, NC until his death. She has recently lived in Blairsville, GA and Pompano Beach, FL. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Rubino Berkshire; and sons Leonard Rubino and Daniel Rubino; as well as her grandson, Matthew Berkshire; granddaughter, Dr. Tiffany Berkshire Iraheta (Mario); great grandchildren, Mario Andres and Enzo Iraheta, brother Tick (Eileen) Philbrook; and many nieces and nephews. A service in celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, November 25th at 2 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 901 E. McNab Road, Pompano Beach, FL. Mary was much loved by her family and friends and was treasured for her kind and loving presence in all their lives. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
