Nierenberg, Moe. With tremendous sadness but love and admiration, we mourn the passing of Moe Nierenberg on January 1, 2013, two days after his 100th birthday. Following his birthday party on Sunday, Moe passed away peacefully in his sleep. Moe was born in Harlem in 1912 and moved to Mt. Vernon as a child. He has lived in Florida since 1975. Hitch-hiking to the Chicago's World Fair and on to California before he was twenty instilled in him the love of travel. With his late wife, Sara, whom he married in 1943, his trips covered every state, most of Europe and Israel during the 53 years of their marriage. Moe was a teacher without a degree, but with a wealth of knowledge to share. He was a tennis player who never took a lesson, a singer who couldn't sing, and a writer who couldn't type. Moe leaves his son, Andrew, in Miami and his daughter, Lin Schader, in Boca. Moe was fortunate to have eight grandchildren, Eric, (Katie), Ron, (Liz), Daryl, (Ira), and Risa, (Josh); and six great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Sasha, Jillian, Scott, Kira and Leo. Moe will forever be loved and missed.
