William Halpern, 88, died on April 14, 2013 in Weston, FL. Bill served as an Army medic in World War II. He made his home in New York, co-founding the Midway Jewish Center and running his own insurance firm. He relished tennis, running, bike riding, and swimming. Later in life, Bill divided his time between the Berkshires and Fort Lauderdale, enjoying Tanglewood in the summer and warm winters. He loved morning coffee and bicycle riding with his friend Art and enjoyed dining out with his friend Bert. He is predeceased by his wife Gertrude and survived by his children, Susan, Hallie, Michael, and Beth, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Services will be held at Beth Moses Cemetery on Long Island, New York.
