George Readington Pease, 93, died on June 20 , 2013 in Deerfield Beach Florida from a stroke. "Red" was born in Fitchburg MA and moved to the Burlington VT area when he was five. He graduated from the University of Vermont and earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Harvard. Red began his career in US civil service, taking time out to serve in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Officer Navigator during World War II. He married Mary Shepherd in 1946 and set out for post war Germany where he helped rebuild the continent following the war. Red eventually rose to be the senior civil servant in the personnel field in the Air Force in Europe. Upon returning to the US in 1958, he worked briefly with the Military Air Transport Service at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He then transferred to US/AID serving in the Foreign Service in senior positions in Brazil and the Dominican Republic. He retired from government and remained in Brazil until his returned in 1994 to Deerfield Beach, Florida where they enjoyed a long retirement. He was a world traveler, an avid reader, and dedicated student of six languages. Red was a devoted husband and father, survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary, five children Steven, Mark, Larry, Jenney, and Elizabeth (Buffy) along with their spouses, seventeen grand, and fifteen great grand children. His brother Birney and his wife Barbara live in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL. Interment will be in West Dennis, MA at a later date.
