Curtis, Gus (Gustavo), 88 of Pompano Beach died on Tuesday December 17, 2013 after a long illness. Born in New York City, the youngest of three brothers. Gus served in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific receiving the Purple Heart. After the service, he went to college in Mexico City, and embarked on a long business career in Latin America. In 1976, while managing a factory in Bogota, Colombia, he was kidnapped and held for ransom for over 8 months. After his release, he settled in FL, and for a few years also lived in Laredo, TX, involving himself in various business enterprises. He retired after his return to FL. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vera. His brothers Thomas and James predeceased him. It was his wish to be cremated, so there will not be any formal memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to a charity of your choosing.
