Rev. Lionel "Eddie" LaRocque, Fort Laud., FL, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2014. Son of Edward and Yvonne, born in Kankakee, IL, he joined the US Navy after high school. Eddie was a multitalented musician who performed in So. CA. Certified as a stationary engineer, he founded technical schools and authored two textbooks. Much of his career was in property management. In 1994, his passion for those plagued by addiction led him to found Celebrate Recovery locally. In 2001, he earned a theological degree from Calvary Chapel Bible College, followed by ordination. A member of First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach, he served as a counselor for the Lord's Gift House. His loving spirit and zest for life touched many. Survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn, sisters Carman (Don) McCarthy, Rita (Rick) Thompson, daughter JoLynne (David) Keiser, stepsons Chuck Ford, Michael (Lisa) Ford, Steven (Julie) Ford, stepdaughter Lisa (Gary) Ellenbogen, grandsons Erick (Jamie) Keiser, Mark Ludvick, granddaughters Shawn (Dennis) Dubanski, Desiree (Chris) Lippold, Michelle (Scott) Wells, Amanda Gropp, Rachel and Cara Ellenbogen, as well as six great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by brothers Gerald and Roy, Jeannine Haarer, and sons Greggory and Jonathon.
