Robert Sawbridge McCormick

Robert Sawbridge McCormick passed away on February 9, 2014. Born in Menominee, MI, April 7, 1931. Graduate of The Hill School'49; Yale'53 and Michigan Law'56. His career of over 50 years as a member of the Florida Bar began with English, McCaughan & O'Bryan, later forming the partnership of Gillespie, McCormick, McFall, Gilbert & McGee, which merged in 1987 with Dykema Gossett of Detroit. A resident of Fort Lauderdale for 58 years, Bob had a strong commitment to local organizations, among which were First Presbyterian Church, Lauderdale Yacht Club and The Restless Weasels. His interests were wide ranging from history & travel to fishing & gardens; a life-long supporter of the Green Bay Packers, he was ever loyal to the Michigan Wolverines. Pre-deceased by his older brother Harris McCormick and first wife, Anne Furstenau McCormick, Bob leaves a loving family: wife of 17 years, Virginia; daughter Cynthia (Cindy); sons David (Lesley) and Christopher (Jan); granddaughters Alissa and Sarah Anne; sister Barbara Christensen. Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 401 SE 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, 33301 on Wednesday, February 19 at 11:00 am.
