Wesley Greer Obituary

Wesley Colin Greer - On August 19, 2015 Wesley's family experienced the most horrific day every parent dreads, they found their beloved son, Wesley, dead from an overdose. Born August 15, 1986 in Frederick, MD, Wesley enjoyed a charmed, happy childhood. He was bright, charismatic and made a friend out of everyone he met. He was an accomplished athlete, excelling in baseball, football and competed as a National Championship Youth Wrestler. Despite his formidable size, everyone was touched by his gentle, thoughtful nature. Wesley graduated from Martinsburg High School (WV), before attending WVU at Keyser, WV. After struggling for several years with his addictions, Wesley moved to Ft. Lauderdale, where he attended several rehabs attempting to maintain sobriety. Though Wesley made some very poor choices, with the continual love and support of his family he found his way back. After exhausting all other programs, he finally landed at Faith Farm and was literally saved. After completing their rigorous nine month program, Wesley stayed on working in the Intake office of the Ft. Lauderdale campus for nearly another year. Applying the Christian principles of grace and service he had clearly mastered he fought like a champion for each addict he encountered who needed his help. He deeply impacted so many lives in such important and positive ways, he is credited with saving lives again and again. He made more of a difference in 29 short years than most people make in a 100. Grown weary of fighting the battle for so long, Wesley had recently moved to Brunswick, Georgia looking to make a fresh start. He loved the Southern charm of the area and was doing well. He was remodeling his mother's home and turning his paint and carpentry skills into a successful business. Wesley spent his days working side-by-side with his mother to make her home beautiful, a gift she will be eternally grateful for. All of Wesley's family was proud to see him return to the sweet, dependable, amazing man they had always hoped he would grow up to be. Wesley's family wants you to know that he is not defined by his final poor choice. They are all proud of him and of the selfless love that he generously gave to others. He enjoyed his final evening with his family: sharing a great dinner, making plans to come over to paint the next morning and he headed home. His last words to them were that he loved them. He didn't die scared or alone, he knew he was loved. Because of his deep faith, they are secure in knowing that Wesley is with God, in heaven. He's no longer battling his addition. He's good. We're all left crushed, missing his beautiful smiling face... Wesley leaves behind his father, Warren D. Greer Jr. and stepmother, Claire of Bethany Beach, DE, his mother, Kristy Dyroff and stepfather, Richard of Brunswick, GA, his brother, Curtis of Shepherdstown, WV, and sister, Kimberlee of Sunny Isles, FL, and stepsisters Brianna, Britt, Mimi, Grace and Moira, of Bethany Beach, DE. His grandparents include David and Mary Lee Greer, of Martinsburg, WV, James and Sharon Cagley, of Rockville, Maryland, and Frederick and Kathryn Dyroff, of Jackson, NJ. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Krystle LeMay, of Lake Worth, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please make contributions in Wesley's name to Faith Farm, so that through you he can keep helping others. Donations can be sent to Faith Farm Ministries in Fort Lauderdale (and only Fort Lauderdale) 1980 Northwest 9th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311 or FaithFarm.org. Please attend a celebration of Wesley's life at a memorial service to be held at Faith Farm's Campus Chapel (see address above) at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015.

Hi babe....miss you so much and I still can't believe you're gone. I wish every day you were still here and I miss your smile, your laugh, and you just being here with me. I still keep thinking you'll call me and tell me you're coming home, it all feels so surreal. I love you now and will always love you baby.

Wesley, you were taken from us much too soon. Our hearts are broken. You will always be remembered as a loving, big old teddy bear. May you find comfort. We will always love you.
