Paul Weiner

Paul Weiner Weiner, Paul A Pillar of the Community, the Patriarch of his Family and "A Solid Citizen" was born in Brooklyn, NY February 25, 1923 to Hinda and Isadore Weiner. Grew up with his older brother, Louis and younger sister Sylvia in Ottawa, Canada where he worked with his father and brother in his father's store named "Weiner Clothing". In 1946, Paul met and married Eleanor, his soulmate and life long partner for the next 66 years. Their life together was a true love story and their close bond for each other could not be duplicated, they did everything together. In Ottawa, they raised their family, daughter Barbara and son Bruce. Paul and Eleanor started off very humbly selling knitting wool and stockings, however they were an ambitious and bright couple who together built and very successful real estate development company named Pebb Enterprises after their family, Paul, Eleanor, Barbara and Bruce. Together they strongly believed in the concept of giving to charity and became active participants and supporters of many Jewish organizations in Ottawa. They were instrumental in building and forming the Hillel Lodge, Ottawa Jewish Home for the Aged, Jewish Federation Young Leadership Development and Temple Beth Shalom. In 1972, Paul and Eleanor moved to Hollywood, Florida where they continued their passion for philanthropy. They became chairmen of the UJA and Israel Bond Campaigns at their residence in the Aquarius Condominium, members of the Board of Directors of Jewish Federation of South Broward, members of the Prime Ministers Club of Israel Bonds, member of B'nai Brith Lodge Century Club, VP of American Friends of Hebrew University Hollywood Chapter and builders of the Florida House at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. They also were on the board of trustees for the Humana Biscayne Hospital in Aventura. For their love of Israel they were active contributors and supporters of AIPAC as members of the President's Club, donated the social and recreational hall at the community center in Hod Hasharon, Israel, contributors to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. They then moved to Boca Raton where they became members of Congregation B'nai Torah where they built the Eleanor and Paul Weiner Cultural Center the Weiner/Rosenberg Terrace and Sculpture Garden, donated to the Educational Social Hall and were the major benefactors of the Bnai Torah Concert Series. They believed that if God blesses someone with the means to give they had a duty to provide for those less fortunate. They donated the main waiting room of the newly completed Lynn Cancer Center at Boca Raton Regional Hospital where they were benefactors. In 1973, with their son and son-in law, formed Pebb Enterprises, a Florida real estate investment and development partnership. This family business for the past 42 years has developed and managed many commercial buildings throughout Florida and a number of other states. Up until recently he was actively involved in all aspects of the business which now includes his grandchildren. Eleanor and Paul's greatest passion was the love of their family which they showed by working tirelessly together to bring Eleanor's Russian family to the United States at a time when it was very difficult. He was surrounded by his loving family when he passed. Their loving immediate family includes their children Barbara and Jeffrey Rosenberg and Bruce and Carla Weiner, grandchildren Fara and Ian Horowitz, Todd and Caroline Rosenberg, Jared and Amanda Weiner, Ian and Rachel Weiner, Laurel and Ori Rom, and great-grandchildren Casey and Shane Horowitz, Dylan, Julian and Gavin Rosenberg, Jonah and Zoe Weiner, Blake and Ella Weiner all of whom will sorely miss them. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren called them Mama and Papa. Their Mama and Papa have guided and taught their whole family high moral principles, family values and togetherness, Jewish tradition, the importance of charity and unconditional love. His entire family is very grateful to his exceptional physician and friend Dr. David Levey, and his dedicated aides Blanca Lopez and Maria Almazan. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8th, 1PM at B'nai Torah Congregation 6261 SW 18th Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33433 to be followed by internment at Eternal Light Cemetery 11520 SR 7 Boynton Beach, FL. Memorial contributions can be made to the Eleanor and Paul Weiner Distinguished Service Award Fund at B'nai Torah Congregation.
