Donald E. "Don" Darden Donald E. "Don" Darden, 68, of Tallahassee died Tuesday, April 14, at Capital Regional Hospital as a result of complications from ALS. Don was born and raised in the Panama Canal Zone then attended Clemson University. He came to Tallahassee in 1977 from Alexandria, VA and worked as an architect and as a Special Threshold Inspector on many large commercial projects such as the High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Tallahassee Regional Airport, Wildwood and DeGraff Halls at FSU, FAMU Teaching Gym, Chiles High School, Roberts Elementary, and his final project, St. Peters Anglican Church. An Army veteran, Don served as a birddog scout pilot in Vietnam and later as a member of the Florida Army National Guard as a helicopter pilot flying medivac missions. He was a member of the Wildwood Church. Survivors include his wife of 33 years: Susan; sisters: Twila Darden Wilson of Tallahassee, Beth Darden McElvain of Ava, Missouri; brother: Mark Fielding Darden of Oxford, NC; and 18 nieces and nephews. Don was blessed with many wonderful friends and a large extended family. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Monday, April 20, at 1:00 in the Wildwood Church followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception in the fellowship hall afterward.
