Dianne George Haney
Linda Dianne George Haney, 69, a longtime resident of Tallahassee passed away June 16, 2013 in Tallahassee. Dianne was born August 28, 1943 in Panama City, Florida, the second daughter of Lilyan Pauline McCann George and J. Edison George.
Dianne married Tom Haney June 14, 1963 in Panama City. She worked with International Business Machines (IBM) in Atlanta Georgia while her husband attended medical school. Dianne and Tom moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 1975.
In Tallahassee, Dianne volunteered to assist numerous charitable, social and educational organizations. Dianne's passion was caring for her friends and family, particularly her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her generous, loving spirit and contagious smile.
Dianne served as President of the Tallahassee Junior League, Chairman of the Board of the Tallahassee Junior Museum, Chairman of the Junior Museum Antique Show, Chairman of the Leon High School Foundation, President of the Leon High School PTO and Chairman of the Goodwood Antique Show.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Tom Haney; son, Mark T. Haney (wife Sarah Nan); daughter, Angela Orkin (husband Brian); grandchildren Taylor Nan Haney, Kendall Dianne Haney, Sarah Alyssa Haney, Samuel Thomas Orkin and Julia Dianne Orkin; sister Gayle Walker (husband Joe); niece Dana Walker Barry (son Gregory); and nephew Britt Walker (wife Bobbitt; and their children Nate, Ben, Carrie and Sammy).
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, EDT, Wednesday, June 19 at the First Baptist Church of Tallahassee (108 West College Avenue). The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Welcome Center of First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
