Dottie Mae Pierson
Dorothy May Anderson Pierson (Dottie Mae), age 92, died at home April 25, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Dottie Mae grew up in Tampa, FL, where she and her younger sister Mildred loved riding horses, playing golf, and spending summers at Camp Riva Lake in Tennessee. She graduated from Plant High School, where she was captain of the girls' basketball team. She attended Florida State College for Women and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married Charles Fred Pierson, Jr., and raised her three children in Tallahassee. She loved her summers at St. Teresa and later Alligator Point. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church and the Tallahassee Cotillion Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Leah Pierson Stoetzel, her son, Charles Fred Pierson, III, her former son-in-law, Ralph Spencer Stoetzel, Jr., her grandsons, Lee Pierson Stoetzel (wife Kelly and daughter Sara) of Chester Springs, PA, Ralph Spencer Stoetzel, III (wife Kathy and children Spencer and Olivia) of Tallahassee, her sister, Mildred Lewis of Tampa, her sister-in-law, Mart Hill of Tallahassee, her nieces, Alden Sollner of Tampa, Alison Iglehart and Almena Pettit of Tallahassee, her nephew, Louis Hill and Godson, Paul Hill of Tallahassee, and several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fred Pierson, Jr., and her son Phipps Coleman Pierson, and her parents, Blanche Phipps Anderson and John Arvid Anderson, Jr.
