Juliette Boucher Kochanowsky
Juliette Boucher Kochanowsky, passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday, August 7th, 2014 at 4:10 p.m. in Tallahassee, Florida, of congestive heart failure.
The first of nine siblings, she was born on July 24, 1932, in Barre, Vermont by the name Marie Jeanne Juliette Boucher to Maurice J. Boucher and Anna Dessureau Boucher. She married Wolodymyr Kochanowsky on June 2, 1951 in Manchester, New Hampshire at the age of 18.
She had three passions in her life: her family, music and travel. She was a mentor to her sisters and brothers, hosted her nephews and nieces and loved visiting all of them. Over her 50 year career as a piano instructor, she taught and inspired a large number of students. She was for a time the president of the Florida Music Teachers Association as well as winning several music awards. A concert pianist, she gave a number of musical performances, primarily in Boca Raton.
She traveled extensively in Europe, visiting both Western and former Soviet bloc nations. Her travels included visiting the Ukraine both before and after the collapse of the Soviet Union and Italy for piano instruction. She spoke French, Ukrainian and Italian.
She attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, making her the first in her family to earn a college degree. She and her family lived in Boston and Andover, Massachusetts; Manchester, New Hampshire; Barre and Burlington, Vermont; and Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, St. Augustine, Jacksonville and Tallahassee in Florida.
She is survived by her three sons: Eugene, Gregory, and Paul Kochanowsky, her five grandchildren: Ursula, Sarah, Michael, Melissa and Sean Kochanowsky, her sisters: Pauline, Helene, Diane and Claire and her brothers: Charles and Philippe Boucher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wolodymyr (Walter) Kochanowsky (February 24, 1994), her parents, Maurice J. Boucher (1973) and Anna Dessureau Boucher (1994), a sister, Mary Jacqueline Boucher Charland (July 15, 2006) and brother, Robert Normand Boucher.
