MARJORIE FLETCHER ATWATER NETTLES

Marjorie Fletcher Atwater Nettles, 90, of Tallahassee, Florida, died June 10, 2014 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. She was born October 3, 1923 in Decatur County Georgia to Elton L. and Claudia McKeown Atwater. Marjorie graduated from Florida State College for Women in March of 1947 with a B.S. in Commerce. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother who later worked for the State of Florida and the Leon County Clerk of Courts as a bookkeeper/accountant. She retired from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in 1984 after 26 years with the state and county to help in the care of her newborn granddaughter. In her retirement, she enjoyed time with her family, gardening, sewing and baking. Marjorie was a long-time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, William E. Atwater. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William M. Nettles; two daughters, Kathryn Holland (Jim) and Patricia Nettles, of Tallahassee; and granddaughter, Ashley Holland, of Los Angeles.

The family expresses their thanks to Sherry of Home Instead, the staff of TMH 3A and Big Bend Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on June 16, 2014 at Roselawn Cemetery.
