Nancy S. Ball

Nancy Sheppard Ball was surrounded by her family as she went to be in the arms of her heavenly Father on March 12, 2013. She passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born on August 30, 1955, at Sculthorpe Air Force Base, England. Nancy was the middle of five daughters of Lt. Col. William and Margaret Sheppard. She grew up in Fort Walton Beach, where she attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida.

Nancy was a free spirit who loved God, her family, and her friends. After an extensive and distinguished career with Comcast Cable, Nancy owned and operated Frames+, a picture-framing shop in Tallahassee. She was a long-time member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where she had served on the Parish Council and Finance Committee. She also was involved with the Big Bend Parents of Twins Club and autism-related causes.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Scott, and sons Adam, Kevin and Eric. She is also survived by her sisters Joyce Weston, Rosemary Hillyer (Johnny), Maureen Byrd (Peter) and Joan Lio (Chris), along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Abbey Funeral Home in Tallahassee, with the Rosary being recited at 7:45. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 3640 Fred George Road, Tallahassee. Interment will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
