Patricia Bredeken Redig
Patricia Bredeken Redig passed away on Friday March 29, 2013 in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born June 9, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Oscar "Ted" and Frances Oliger Bredeken. Patricia attended Marquette University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She married Eugene John Redig on September 2, 1950, and moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1951. She taught 5th grade at Auburndale, Florida elementary school and then at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Lakeland. She taught English/Journalism/ British Literature at Santa Fe Catholic Regional High School in Lakeland for 11 years until she retired from teaching in 1981.
Preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Gene of 52 years and infant son Teddy. Survived by her only sister Barbara Bredeken Buckalew of Manchester, Connecticut; five children Michael Redig (Nancy) of Tallahassee, Florida; Philip Redig (Debbie) of Lakeland, Florida; Mark Redig of Tallahassee, Florida; Lisa Redig Campbell (David) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Ted Redig (Melinda) of Tallahassee, Florida; eight grandchildren Christopher Redig (Jamie) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Jacquelyn Redig Hughes (Richard) of Lakeland, Florida; Courtney, Kerry and Christian Campbell of Knoxville, Tennessee; Corey, Chase and John Patrick Redig of Tallahassee, Florida; two great-grandchildren Aiden Redig of Raleigh, North Carolina and Keegan Hughes of Lakeland, Florida.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday April 6, 2013, 12:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to either Big Bend Hospice www.bigbendhospice.org
