Paul Kent Sims

Paul Kent Sims, 67, a lifelong resident of Tallahassee, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 with his family by his side at his home in Bonifay.

A son of the late Elwood and Nettie Forehand Sims, he was born May 1, 1946 in Tallahassee.

He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and received the Purple Heart. After discharge from the US Army, he became a mail carrier with the US Postal Service. He loved hunting, gardening, fishing and baseball. He was a member of the Tallahassee Classics Baseball Team.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Syfrett Sims; son, Scott and Jenny Sims; daughter, Lindsey Sims; stepsons, Raymond Sowell and Jason Yawn; grandchildren, Chastyne, Joey, Delana, Hunter, Isabella, Danner, Ryder, Coby; step-grandson, Jaxon; brother, Dennis and Cynthia Sims; sister, Sonya and Tom Stanley.

The funeral is 2:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2013 Abbey Funeral Home. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, Marianna, Florida or The , Gainesville, Florida.
