Robert Edgar "Bob" Hancock

Robert Edgar Hancock met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, May 22, 2013.

He was born in Tampa, Florida on July 25, 1926 to Horace B. and Juanita Hancock. He is preceded in death by his brother, Horace H. Hancock. He leaves his loving wife, Geri Hancock and five daughters: Susan Gray, Pam Pumphrey (and husband Don), Debbie Morris (and husband Danny), Janice Roberts, and Dianne Watson (and husband Mark). His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Jennifer, Allen, Julie, Amy, Ben, Jonathan, Austin, and Cade, as well as his two great-granddaughters Rose and Lennon. "Papa" loved many people, especially his extended family, Sandra Pitts and her family, and Donald and Tim Pumphrey and their families.

Papa graduated from the University of Tampa with a bachelors degree in Education. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He received his masters degree from Florida State University.

Papa was a radio disc jockey in Savannah, Georgia. He worked under Doyle O'Connor at the Department of Agriculture. He continued his service to the State of Florida at the Department of Education and the Department of Veteran Affairs.

He was a former governor of the Civitans. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Tallahassee where he worked many years in the Television Ministry. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary. He was also a member of the Tallahassee Old Timers' Club.

A visitation of family and friends will be held before the Memorial Service, Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Welcome Center of First Baptist Church of Tallahassee. The Memorial Service will be held in the Church Sanctuary at 3:00 PM.
