Thaylon Bobby Hunt
Thaylon Bobby Hunt, 70, of Perry, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 after a short illness at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Bobby was born February 27, 1943 in Mayo, FL, to Wilford and Pearl (Sapp) Hunt.
Mr. Hunt was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of Boyd United Methodist Church in Perry. He was a graduate of Lafayette County High School, where he played football. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force
where he trained to be a medic. He was a homicide investigator with the Florida Highway Patrol on the Florida State Turnpike, and in Franklin and Taylor counties; retiring in 1994 with close to 30 years of service. During the time he was with FHP, he earned his degree in Criminology from Florida State University in 1980. After retiring from FHP he taught Law Works for 10 years at Taylor County High School, from which he retired again in 2004. Among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, working with his tractor and watching FSU football. He made a huge impact on anyone who met him, especially the young people in his community.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Wilford Hayward and Pearl Sapp Hunt, and his son David Wylie Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Priscilla "Perky" Hunt of Perry, FL., and his sons Wayne Hunt of Stratham, NH, and Gary Bordon of Live Oak, FL.; his brother Ray Hunt (Linda) of Mayo, FL. A host of nieces and nephews, special family members and friends also survive him.
Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Perry with Bro. Wallace Holmes and Bro. Eddie Pridgeon officiating. Interment will be at Boyd United Methodist Church at a later date. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Perry. Memorial contributions can be made to the Boyd Methodist Church. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home.
