Wallis Walker Obituary

Wallis Lester "Jack" Walker

Wallis Lester "Jack" Walker, Jr, 74, passed away on October 24, 2014 following a battle with cancer. Jack was born in Arcadia, FL to Wallis and Frances Walker and moved to Tallahassee as a young child. He attended Sealy Elementary and it was there that he met the first of five very important men (also known as The Six Toms) who became lifelong friends. Jack graduated from Leon High School and attended Washington & Lee University where he pledged SAE Fraternity. He transferred to FSU and earned a degree in accounting. While at FSU, Jack married his high school sweetheart Carroll Haynie Walker. Jack loved his family and was very involved in their lives. He attended countless fieldtrips, Boy Scout and Girl Scout campouts, sporting events and dance recitals for his children and grandchildren. He also loved getting away to the 6 Toms Farm he shared with his five close friends. Jack was an active member of St Peter's Anglican Church where he was dedicated to working at the church bookstore and Grace Mission. He cherished his men's bible study group.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Wallis and Frances Walker.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carroll Haynie Walker, his sister, Patty Walker Munroe, four children, Betsy Champion (Van), Ashley Trafton (Mark), Wallis Walker, William Walker (Catherine) all of Tallahassee. His grandchildren, Handley and Caroline Champion and Mark, Jack and William Trafton and his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St Peter's Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Mission.

Kelly Barber of Bevis Funeral Home (www.bevisfh.com, 850-385-2193) is assisting the family with arrangements.
