Linda Cooksey Obituary
Linda Gordy Cooksey, age 74, entered into rest September 18, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Margaret Johnson Gordy and R.C. "Bill" Gordy. Linda was born in Tallahassee and was a graduate of Leon High School. She attended Florida State University and Lively Tech. Linda retired from the City of Tallahassee. She enjoyed her art classes at the Senior Center where she made many great friends including Ann Ciotti, Gail Saxon, Karol Selvaggio, Mary Transou and many others. Linda also proceeded in death by her sister, Karen Gordy Gerrell; grandparents Mae Hunt Johnson and James "Ed" Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Terry Cooksey; in Linda's words she said "I was married to the love of my life, Terry Cooksey for 52 years and dated him for two years. We had a great life together. We shared all of the good and bad of life and were stronger from them. Linda is also survived by three children, Robert Lang Cooksey, Carl Travis Cooksey (Heather), Helen Cooksey Arrington; grandchildren Wyatt D. Arrington, Logan A. Arrington; step-grandchildren Tyler, Braxton and Sydney; aunt Doris Maige; her dear sweet friend Jen Singleton; numerous cousins. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tallahassee Senior Center Art Dept. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. (www.bevisfh.com 850-385-2193)

I have known Linda all those the years going to school with her, so it's hard to believe that she has graduated on to Heaven! I last saw her at her restaurant about 27 years ago, and had a nice chat with her. Rest in peace Linda.

Lang, Helen, and Carl (and Dan, too) so sorry for your loss. Your mom and aunt were important fixtures for me in high school and role models for the type of parent I wanted to be for my kids by being an active volunteer in their activities. So saddened for this family's loss. My memories of Mrs. Cooksey and Big Red go back to their bar- b-q restaurant that no one has been able to duplicate since. Southern grace and love of family exuded from her. Rest in peace.
