BARBARA (BABS) BROADFOOT WILKISON, 85, Funeral services and Christian Burial for Barbara B. Wilkison, 85, a resident of Tallahassee will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Culley's Meadow Wood on Timberlane Road in Tallahassee, Fl. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee immediately following the service.The family will greet friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Culley's Meadow Wood on Timberlane Road.
Mrs. Wilkison passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Big Bend Hospice, in Tallahassee. Barbara B. Wilkison was born November 5, 1926 in Mobile, Alabama the daughter of Albert and Mary Ellen Broadfoot.She moved to Tallahassee in 1953 with her husband where she raised four children and remained until the time of her passing.
Barbara received her registered Nursing degree from University of Virginia's School of Nursing in Charlottesville, VA. Upon receiving her degree she became Head Nurse to the Chief of Surgery.After moving to Tallahassee and raising her children at the age of fifty Barbara returned to her beloved nursing career as an Operating Room nurse at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare for 14 years and then worked for a private doctor another seven years before retiring at age 71.
Mrs. Wilkison was a member of the Evangel Assembly of God Church. She helped develop the Grey Lady school nurse program at Kate Sullivan and was also an avid Florida State Seminole fan. She loved to cook for her family and also enjoyed sewing and handwork.
She is survived by her children; Earl (Jay) Wilkison, Macon, GA, Janet Weimar Tallahassee, Fl , Mary Ellen Harding Panama City, Fl, John Wilkison, Orlando, FL; 9 loving grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Bob) Broadfoot and William (Bill) Broadfoot both of Jacksonville, FL.
