Barbara Holloway Obituary

Barbara Karen Holloway

Barbara Karen Holloway died October 8, 2014, trusting completely in her Lord Jesus Christ, with whom she now rejoices in glory. Barbara was born on July 27th, 1949 in Lakeland, Florida. She was the loving wife of Dan for 43 years, mother of Daniel (Betsy) and Robert (Holly) and grandmother to Ben, Bowman, Sarah Jane, Camille and Ivy Pearl, and a new granddaughter expected later this fall, all of whom were the joys of her life. She also leaves behind beloved family, including her mother, Eunice Sloat, twin sister, Jacque Sloat, sister Sara Ann Johnson and brother Bud Sloat (Gail) , as well as many nieces and a nephew and their children. She was preceded in death by her grandson, William Davis, and her father, Alton Sloat.

Barbara's entire life was built around her faith and love for Jesus and sharing His love with others. She was a mother to many , a friend to the poor, destitute and lonely, and committed herself to serving all those she could. She was passionate about prayer and longed to see the broken-hearted find healing in the One who brings wholeness, even as she sought Him continually for her own healing.

Barbara was a graduate of Florida State University and her heart for serving others extended into her work and ministry career in many Tallahassee businesses and organizations, including most notably the Jim Moran Institute, the Center for Biblical Studies, and Tallahassee Healing Prayer Ministries. She was an administrative gift to all she worked with, and could always be found serving in whatever capacity was needed. She was a beloved member of her church family at Holy Cross Anglican Church, but was also closely knit together with many friends throughout the Body of Christ in Tallahassee.

Donations in honor of Barbara may be made to Holy Cross Anglican Church, the Center for Biblical Studies or Tallahassee Healing Prayer Ministries. Her funeral service will be today, Saturday October 11th at 10:30 AM, Trinity Anglican Church, 325 W. Jackson St., Thomasville, GA.

I will be keeping the Sloat and Holloway families in my thoughts and prayers! I attended school with the Sloat sisters and brother in Mulberry, Florida! Although they moved away when I was in the 10th grade, I have always carried them in my heart. Barbara was sweet and unassuming. She had a loving and kind heart! I will never forget her! I extend my deepest and most profound sympathies to her entire family and to all who loved her! God rest her precious soul.
