Catheryn Blasingame
Catheryn Myers Blasingame, 88, a loving sister, aunt and friend went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Harbor Chase Assisted Living and Memory Care in Tallahassee, Florida.

She was born on November 8, 1924 in Sampit, South Carolina—in Georgetown County—to the late Louis T. Myers and Mrs. Elizabeth C. Myers, who preceded her in death.

Celebration of life services will be held at noon, Friday, August 23 at the chapel of Bethel AME Church, with burial at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Gardens on Timberlane Road. Viewing will precede homegoing services at the chapel. Strong & Jones Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Mrs. Blasingame received her Bachelors degree in Education from Claflin College, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. A retired teacher and daycare director for over 35 years, she influenced the life of hundreds of children who came under her loving care.

Mrs. Blasingame's life was defined by her personal relationship with Christ.
This relationship was evident in her active membership and faithful service to the Riverside Church in New York City, Mt. Zion AME Church in Charleston and Bethel AME Church where she was a member of Class #50 and served on the Stewardess Board #3 until her health failed her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Myers, Sr., John Henry Myers, Edward P. Myers and sisters Charlotte Myers Pembroke and Alpha Omega Myers Gilmore.

She leaves to cherish her memory surviving nieces and nephews: Mrs. Carolyn P. Jones (A. Lanier), Tallahassee; Harold Wilson (Elaine), Jacksonville, FL; Mrs. Sharon G. Berrian (Tobbie), Tallahassee; Mrs. Pamela B. Roe (Carl), Stone Mountain, Ga; Henry J. Gilmore III, Hawthorne, Ca.; Johnetta E. Myers, Oakland, Ca.; George A. Myers, Charlotte, N.C.; Rev. Samuel Myers (Mozelle), Charleston; Bobbye Jean Salters, Charleston; Dorothy Hill, Monterey, Ca.; Evangeline Allen, Marina, Ca., Almenia Myers, Nashville, Tenn.
and Lillie Ruth Myers, Pineville, S.C. and a host of loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins and numerous other sorrowing friends.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to Covenant Hospice of Tallahassee, Dr. Remelda Saunders-Jones, and the wonderful staff and management of Harbor Chase Assisted Living and Memory Care in Tallahassee, Florida for the care they showed Mrs. Blasingame during her life in Tallahassee.
