Deanne McPherson Adams
Deanne M. Adams, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 3, after a courageous battle with a lung disease. Deanne was born to Alney and Elinor McPherson on October 6, 1937, in Greensboro, Florida. She attended Greensboro High School.
A member of Celebration Baptist Church, she held a very special place in her heart for all of her Sunday School friends as well as the "Speeders".
Deanne moved to Tallahassee in 1954 and worked for Florida State Government for many years before retiring.After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time quilting, thrift shopping, and baking sweet goodies for her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, sharing tales of her life, and was an avid Seminole fan, watching anything Florida State. She also found much peace and contentment spending time at Mexico Beach.
Deanne is survived by her beloved husband and best friend Arthur (Art ) Adams, Tallahassee, her children: Joe Shiver (Karen),Tallahassee, Gary Shiver (Cindy), Tallahassee, Walter Shiver (Lisa), Birmingham, Alabama, Cindy Nichols (Donnie) , Crawfordville, Susan Shiver, Phenix City, Alabama, stepchildren Steve Adams (Katie), Tallahassee, Connie Gilbert (Ed), Lake Mary, and Ellen Mackey (Joe), Bedford, Virginia.She is survived by 18 grandchildren, Jason Shiver (Randi), Shannon Shiver, Gary Wayne Shiver (Ashley), Bryan Shiver, Jessica Shiver, Stetson Shiver, Hunter Shiver, Savannah Shiver, Lee Nichols (Stephanie), Brandon Nichols, Cody Nichols (Jennifer), Chase Chancellor, Chance Woodrow Chancellor, Chelsea Chancellor, Chandler Chancellor, Heather Gilbert, Caila Mackey, Liza Mackey; 11 great grandchildren: Julian and Lofton Shiver, Ramsey, Cole and Ella Shiver, Mila Shiver, Bridget Nichols and Easton Nichols, Colton Chancellor, and Jackson and Owen Chancellor; her sister Martha Helen Gherardi and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Deanne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Alney and Elinor McPherson, a brother, Venice McPherson, her maternal grandparents, Lois Elia and Thomas Hines, her paternal grandparents, Mary Emma and Reginald McPherson and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial of her life will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, January 10, at Celebration Baptist Church with a reception at the church following the memorial.
