Delwood Harris Obituary

Delwood Clayton Harris

Delwood Clayton Harris (Buddy) passed away peacefully Monday, May 16, 2011. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend, he is survived by his wife Jenny Harris, daughter Sharon Traxler, son David Harris, son-in-law Thomas W. Traxler and his four grandchildren, Clayton R. Traxler, Anna E. Traxler, Leah R. Boles and Wilson D. Traxler.

"Buddy", was a long-time resident of the Tallahassee area. He owned and operated Harris Painting Company and helped make Tallahassee a beautiful city with his talent for being one of the premier residential painters. His skill, knowledge and experience lent a hand in the restoration of many of the historical buildings in Tallahassee. The Brokaw-McDougall House and NASA's Vertical Assembly Building in Cape Canaveral are among the many of his favorite projects. Among his beloved pastimes were bass fishing in the beautiful lakes of Tallahassee and his Florida State Seminoles, of which he was a long time booster.

Born in Clearwater, Florida, his family moved to Jacksonville where he spent his childhood. Moving with his father to Lake Charles, Louisiana, he met and married his sweetheart Jenny while attending Marion High School.

One of Jehovah's Witnesses, he looked forward to the future when God "will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more" (Rev.21:1-4).

He will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved him. Sleep well good Friend .

Uncle Buddy, as my kids called him, was such a big part of our family's life. He and Jenny lovingly cared for many Tallahassee kids until they went to school. Mine are blessed to be among them. Buddy will always be remembered by this family.
