Donald Arthur Hengstebeck

Donald Arthur Hengstebeck, 85, died Sunday, June 9, 2013.

He was born February 17, 1928 to Alice and Frank Hengstebeck in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of 11 children. He married June Anne Partridge in 1949 and the couple had five children: Ann, Patrick, Sue, Jim and Joseph.

Don was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Japan.
He worked as a lithographer in California and Florida.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a devout Catholic.

Don loved to dance and could turn any room with music playing into a dance hall -- including the grocery store. He loved to go fishing even if he didn't catch anything. Even when Alzheimer's disease stole the words from his mouth, his wide smile conveyed his love and appreciation to those around him.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Because family was so important to Don, anyone wishing to make a contribution in his memory may send a donation to the Hengstebeck Trust Fund, c/o Pat Whitt, 3010 Groves Dr., Sterling Hts., Michigan 48310. The money will be used for upkeep of the family cottage in Michigan.

Although he is deeply missed, his family is happy Don is reunited with June, the love of his life.
