Elizabeth Palfy Veal Krausche

Elizabeth Palfy Beal Krausche, 96, of Alexandria, LA, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011.

Mrs. Kraushe retired as Departmental Secretary for the Psychology Department at Florida State University. While residing in Alexandria, LA, she served as a Pink Lady at Cabrini Hospital and was a member of the Alter Society at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, church activities, playing bridge and was accomplished in art and needlework. Mrs. Krausche loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She and her second husband, Kenneth Krausche, resided in Cairo, Egypt for several years, where he was a biochemist for the United Nations. While in Egypt, they traveled extensively studying Egyptian culture, history, religions and those of the surrounding countries, becoming avid collectors of Egyptian art. Following their return to the States, they resided in Washington, DC, and later retired to Greenville, South Carolina, where they were very active in the community and nearby universities.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Franklin E. Veal and Kenneth K. Krausche; parents, Joseph and Kaitlin Palfy; brothers, Stephen Palfy and Joseph Palfy, Jr; sister, Mary P. Kopas.

Elizabeth Krausche is survived by daughters, Kathy Dungan (Harmon), Alexandria, LA, and Elizabeth (Betty) Veal Vant, Verced, CA; stepchildren, Pauline (Dennis) Brown, Palmdale, CA, Charles (Kathi) Krausche, Dayton, OH, Ken (Novella) Krausche, Beaufort, SC, Kris (Roger) Levy, Baltimore, MD, and Carolyn McCoy, Stewartstown, PA; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Palfy, Ocala, FL; numerous nieces and nephews

Graveside services will be held at Tallahassee Memory Gardens at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Louisiana Chapter, 3717 Government Street, Suite 7, Alexandria, LA 71302. Online condolences at www.abbeyfh.com.
