Evelyn Vickers Collier Calloway, 80, of Tallahassee unexpectedly went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2013.Funeral services are 12 noon Thursday, October 3, at Jacob Chapel Baptist Church, Tallahassee. Viewing-visitation is Wednesday (tomorrow) from 3-7:30 p.m. at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE 850-942-1950. Burial will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. A Plant City native and longtime Tallahassee resident, she had been a well-known child care provider prior to her retirement.She had worked for Kids Academy, Attorney William C. Owen and at Florida State University for over 25 years. A former member of St. Mary's Primitive Baptist Church (#2), she was currently a devoted deaconess at Jacob Chapel where she also served in the Mothers' Ministry. She was a member of the Philos of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Mrs. Calloway leaves fond and loving memories with her children; two daughters, Cheryl Collier-Brown, Tallahassee, and Eleanor Calloway Green, Savannah, GA; two sons, Phillip Michael (Lynne) Collier, Atlanta, GA and Tyrone (Blondine) Calloway, Summerville, SC; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two god children, Tammy Knight and Mitzy Brown, Tallahassee; adopted daughters, Wilma Wiggs, Tallahassee, and Geraldine (Elder James) Vaughn, Atlanta; adopted son, Lamar Myers, Washington, D.C. and special friends, Ruby Jean (James) Dennis, Anne Browning, Mary Graham and Theoria Clark; and a host of other loving relatives and friends, too numerous to name.She was predeceased by her husbands, Phil "Jack" Collier and Deacon J.C. Calloway; her parents Charlie Monroe and Annie Mae Vickers and her grandparents, Amos and Nora Vickers.
