John Wilbur Caldwell

John Wilbur Caldwell, 87, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, after a long life that he spent with his family and friends in Georgia, Tennessee, and Tallahassee, FL.

John was known to his friends as Bill. He was born in Butts Co., GA. on August 20, 1925 to Homer Howell and Florrie Hamm Caldwell. He and his parents were Southern Baptist. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL. In 1956, he became a deacon in the Church. He graduated in 1951 from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA., after being in World War II, and serving in the China, Burma India Theatre of Operations. He first worked for the Georgia Highway Department and then with the Federal Highway Administration in both Tennessee and Florida. He had a total of 35 years in the public service and did much work in constructing the Interstate and Defense highways, and other State and Federally funded highway projects in all three states.

John is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Caldwell; and his two sons, Robert and Scott and his wife Rebecca; and his daughter, Elizabeth Ann. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Kristina and Alison; and two great-grandsons, Sean Patrick McNally, and Braden Gobel. Most of his many other relatives still live in Georgia.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am., Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Tallahassee, FL. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services, from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Jackson Cemetery, Jackson, GA.
