Joshua Wilder Obituary

Joshua Timothy Wilder

Joshua Timothy Wilder was welcomed in heaven early Sunday morning, June 9, 2013. He left us much too soon, a young man with great promise, who lived his life well. Loved beyond measure by his mother Lisa, father Bob, sister Courtney, extended family and more friends than one could count. Josh, a ten year participant in scouting, was completing his Eagle Scout Designation as a member of Troop 201. For 7 years running he was a member of Gadsden County 4H, showing Steers and Hogs, excelling in both categories. Josh was a student at Robert F. Munroe Day School where he played football for two years and baseball for three years. For all his life he belonged to his church family at First Presbyterian Church Quincy, accompanying his mother on youth outings and trips as a young boy, and then faithfully participating as a full-gown member of the middle school and high school youth groups. Josh loved anything to do with the outdoors, hunting, fishing, swimming and playing. Everything he did was with determination, an infectious optimism, and a warm, sometimes mischievous, smile. Josh, we will miss you and we will always hold you in our hearts.

He is survived by his parents, Bob and Lisa Wilder of Quincy; sister, Courtney Wilder of Quincy; maternal grandparents, James and Roberta Sellars Lewis of Recovery, GA; paternal grandmother, Mary Duggan Wilder of Bradenton, FL; aunts and uncles, Robyn Lewis (Brad) Stanley of Alachua, FL; Scotty (Ann) Lewis of Recovery, GA; Sandi Wilder (Richard) Drace of Winter Park, FL; Lynn Wilder (Drew) Levins, David (Kim Ann) Wilder and James H. (Jeanine) Wilder, Jr., all of Bradenton, FL. And several cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, James H. Wilder.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church, Quincy. Service will be Wednesday, June12, 2013, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, Quincy. Interment will follow at Old Philadelphia Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clay Fallis, Mitch Lewis, Bert Fletcher, Ricky Martin, Richard May and Danny Hood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Boy Scout Troop 201 and the Robert F. Munroe Football Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert F. Munroe Baseball and Football Teams, Boy Scout Troop 201 or the First Presbyterian Church Youth.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home, 15 S. Jackson St., Quincy, FL. (850) 627-7677) is in charge of arrangements.

Bob and Lisa,
I am so truly sorry about the loss of your son. I know it all seems so surreal. My heart is aching for you and no words that I offer will change things...but I do know this. We WILL see him again. As you know, Jesus is where the comfort is until that day. I am praying for you and your family that God will wrap his loving arms around you and hold you up and give you strength through this most difficult time. Much love.

May God put his loving arms around you and support you with the peace, comfort and strength only he can bestow. Josh will be with you always because there will always be a special place in your heart where you can go to be near him. I know this may not mean much right now or be much comfort, but it will help you cope and feel his presence until you see him again.

June 11, 2013

The Day God Took You Home
A million times
I've needed you
A million times I've cried,
If love alone
Could have saved you
you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
No one else can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
Part of me went with you
The day God took you home.
