Lee Lewis Obituary

Lee Bryan Lewis

Mr. Lee Bryan Lewis, age 43, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Thursday evening, May 16, 2013.

Born in Tallahassee, FL, on August 12, 1969. He was one of three children born to Harold Davis Lewis and Susan Mullis Lewis Kolb. Lee was raised in Tallahassee and always had a love for and excelled at the game of Baseball. At the age of fourteen, he was a member of the Babe Ruth World Series Champion team. As a young teenager, Lee was honored to be selected as the Bat Boy for the Florida State Seminoles, under Coach Mike Martin. He graduated from Leon High School, Class of 1987. After high school, he attended Sante Fe Community College on a Baseball Scholarship where he obtained his Associate Degree. Lee continued his education at the University of Florida where he was a member the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and earned his Bachelor Degree in Building Construction. After college he moved to Atlanta where he worked for Centex Homes until moving to Lake City in 1996. In Lake City, Lee married Kimberly Lewis and had two daughters Sarah Katherine and Caroline Quinn who were his pride and joy. He changed industries and worked with First Federal Savings Bank as Vice President of Business Development. While working and living in Lake City, Lee served as president of the United Way of Suwannee Valley, president of the Chamber of Commerce in Lake City and worked on various other community focused programs and committees. In January of 2005, he moved to Fernandina Beach to open a branch of First Federal. He then married Meredith Severance of Fernandina Beach. Lee was always one to constantly be thinking and envisioning new concepts which took him to Burbank's Sports Nets where he lent his sales abilities and charismatic personality to the Burbank family. Lee later founded Priority Vision, his company that invented and marketed his signature smokeless tobacco alternative "Nip Energy Dip". In 2012, he joined Colliers International Commercial Real Estate, in Jacksonville, where he worked in Business Relations.

Lee was a former member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee and most recently worshipped and furthered his faith at the Journey Church of Fernandina Beach.

Lee's family and friends will recall his love of coaching his daughter's travel softball teams, his love of the outdoors; whether golfing, playing tennis, baseball, snow skiing, or his most recent feat of completing his 26 mile circumnavigation on his stand up paddle board around Amelia Island on his 42nd birthday. He commonly told his friends that there are 86,400 seconds in each day; live each one of them to the fullest. Many mornings, Lee walked to the beach for pictures of sunrises and his private time in scripture; which many of his friends received via text as a daily word of encouragement and inspiration.

His wife Meredith, cherishes their time in daily devotion and prayer together.

Lee is survived by, his wife, Meredith Lewis, Fernandina Beach, FL, his two daughters, Sarah Katherine "S.K." Lewis (13), Caroline Quinn Lewis (11), their mother, Kimberly Lewis, all of Lake City, FL, his father, Harold Davis Lewis, Sr., Fernandina Beach, FL, his mother, Susan Mullis Lewis Kolb, Tallahassee, FL, Meredith's children, Jimi Elizabeth Severance and Bobby Severance, both of Fernandina Beach, FL, Lee's brother and sister, Harold Davis Lewis, Jr., Orlando, FL and Virginia Shaffer, Phoenix, AZ, a nephew, Cole Shaffer (4), a niece, Amelia Shaffer (6) and a host of friends and lives that he touched. Lee joins Virginia's husband and the father of Amelia and Cole, Rusty Shaffer, in Heaven.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the recently completed, Journey Church, on Amelia Concourse with Pastor Daryl Bellar, officiating.

Lee's family will receive friends, at the church, following the service.

In memory of an outstanding individual, hoping the thoughts of the time spent with Lee will bring a bright spot to a gloomy day. Remembering the fun time spent with Lee at UF made this sad news more bearable. "Super Bowl Bound" as Lee would say, made me smile every time.

I only recently met Lee through his work at Colliers International. From the first time he and I met, until the last time we spoke, Lee's genuine, open spirit and engaging personality made an indelible impression on me. His kind-hearted, easy demeanor made me feel like I had known him for an entire lifetime. Lee's passing is painfully difficult for me to personally comprehend. I can't help but feel that his sharing, loving spirit could be so helpful to so many....particularly in a world filled with desperate, searching souls. Lee was a beacon of light, leading by example. My heart breaks for his family and I pray that God will bring his parents, siblings, spouse and children, a strength and courage that surpasses my comprehension. I hope to see you again someday Lee. You were an inspiration to us all. May God embrace your family in light and love while your rest with Him in His eternal grace.

I can't begin to tell you, Harold and Susan, Meredith, Sarah Katherine and Caroline, how truly sorry I am for your loss. Harold, Susan, Gini, Davis, and Lee's daughters and wife, I was so saddened when Grandma (Annie L Hodge) called me at work to tell me she read of Lee's passing. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Lee in years but as children, we had some good times together at the Lewis's home and at Legislative Trail Rides in Tallahassee. Mr Hodge (my grandfather "Pa") passed away last July and I know he is rejoicing today in Heaven getting hugs and catching up with you. He loved each of you dearly as family and enjoyed every moment he was able to spend with you. I know your family is deeply going to miss you in body but your spirit will always be with them. God will give each of you comfort in knowing Lee is in the very best hands. He will be your guardian angel that is only away. Rest peacefully sweet Lee.

Lee, hadn't seen you in 30 years. Never knew why y'all stopped coming to the camp, but y'all were missed. My condolences to your family.

Lee was (is) a warm soul that seldom met stranger and could have you smiling within just a few moments of meeting him. I knew him mainly through First Federal in Lake City, and ate lunch with him several times or just talked. He always talked about his daughters with love and pride. Our prayers go out to them especially and to his entire family
