Margaret Johnson Allen
Margaret Johnson Allen of Tallahassee ,Florida went to be with her Lord on Monday night, May 6, 2013. She was born in Tallahassee on June 11, 1936.
Margaret is survived by her husband of forty eight years of marriage Robert J. Allen, son Robert D. Allen, daughter Pamela A. Wood and a grandson Jamison Reid Wood. She was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Roberts Johnson, and later, by her parents Dan R. and Cleo A. Johnson.
Margaret is a native of Tallahassee and attended Kate Sullivan Elementary School, Cobb Middle School and Leon High School. She is a graduate of Florida State University where she received a BA degree in Elementary Education and a minor in music. She taught school in Panama City at Parker Elementary , in Mary Ester, Fl and in Tallahassee at Hartsfield Elementary, Seally Elementary , North Florida Christian School and Betton Hills Preparatory Academy.
Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church for over fifty years and sang in the Adult Sanctuary Choir, and was a member of the "Day Spring" ensemble. She was also a soloist and played the piano for adult and children's groups. She taught bible study for children and was active in the Woman's Missionary Union.Margaret was also a member of the Tallahassee Music Guild and the Tallahassee Garden Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church Music Dept. or to the Florida Baptist Children's Home 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee ,Fl. 32317
Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church 108 West College Ave. on Saturday (May 11th.) at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family invites friends to a reception in the Welcome Center from Noon until 1:00 p.m. where refreshments and a light luncheon will be served.
