Martha Rose Hussey

Martha Rose Hussey, 91, formerly of Jackson, Mississippi passed away Monday, June 24th, 2013 at Tallahassee Memory Care in Tallahassee, Florida. Born in Jackson on June 23rd, 1922; she was the daughter of the late Clara Austin and Ivy Earle Hutchison. Martha was a devoted homemaker and retired Army wife who cherished family time, cooking, baking, and gardening. She traveled the world living in France and Japan before settling back in Jackson and then finally in Tallahassee where she was a long-time resident of Castle Apartments.

A devoted and loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Martha is survived by her sisters Olis Billings Price of Jackson, MS; Jim Claire Clipson and her late husband Bob of Denver, CO; daughters Claranne H. Ledford and her husband T.C. of Clermont and Michele M. Miller of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren Lisa L. Phinney and her husband, Eric, of Perth, Australia and their children Alaina and Maya; Scott T. Ledford of Arlington, Virginia, and Devin A. Galetta of Tallahassee, FL. Nieces and nephews included Barbara A. Gaines and her daughter Kati of Madison, MS; Michael D. Billings of Jackson, MS and the late Claudia Clipson of Denver, CO.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Hussey.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Covenant Hospice located in Tallahassee, Florida or the Dementia and at ALZ.org.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel. An interment will take place on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2:00pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL
