Robert S. Jett, Jr.
Robert S. Jett, Jr. (80) left this world to be with our Lord Monday January 13, 2014. He died at his farm home near Havana, Florida with his family at his bedside.
Robert (Bob) was born September 30, 1933 in El Paso Texas to Robert and Claribel Jett. He moved to Tallahassee at a young age and attended local schools, graduating from Leon High, class of 1951. He served his country in both the National Guard (1950-52) and the US Air Force (1952-57). Upon discharge he worked in a family owned supermarket and hardware store while studying at Florida State University.Bob received a B.S. degree from FSU in 1962 and began work as a public accountant in a local firm. In 1967 he became a Certified Public Accountant and a partner in the CPA firm Catledge and Jett. He maintained a career as a CPA as a partner or sole practitioner from 1967 until his death.
Throughout the years he had many local and national affiliations, some of which include; The Washington Family Descendants, Fl. Institute of CPA's, FSU Alumni Assoc., Seminole Boosters, Tallahassee Quarterback Club, the VFW, Lion's club and others.He and his parents were charter members of East Hill Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
Bob had a lifelong love of the outdoors, nature and all things farm related, beginning with his involvement in high school as a member of the FFA. He realized his dream of owning and operating a small family farm near Havana in 1979 to the present.
He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Charlotte Ann (McCants), his parents Robert and Claribel Jett, brother Lloyd and sister Elizabeth.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Patsy H. (Fletcher), son Bobby (wife Debbie), daughter Debbie Potter (husband Tom), son Brandon (wife Maria), step-daughter Jan Fletcher, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
His memorial service and a celebration of his life will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, January 16th, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 3413 Old Bainbridge Road, Tallahassee, FL. The family will receive visitors following the service in the church's fellowship hall.Memorial Contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice House, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
