Thomas Fletcher Obituary

Thomas Leon Fletcher died Monday, October 25, 2010 at his home in Tallahassee. A lifelong Floridian, he was born November 27, 1950 in Stuart, Florida. His parents moved to Tallahassee when he was three years old and has been an active member of this community his entire life.
Tommy's life was his family and his God. He made a living as a commercial and residential painting contractor. He was a lover of the outdoors from deep sea fishing in the Gulf to snow skiing in the Rockies and was an ardent Seminole fan. He was a member of the Meridian Woods Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for several years.
Tommy leaves behind those who were most dear to him in this life - his adoring wife Tisha, his sons Jordan and Austin, his daughter Kaytee, his sister Helen Fletcher Love, and a loving, dedicated extended family.
A Memorial Celebration is planned for Friday, October 29 at 11:00 AM at Meridian Woods Church of Christ, 2870 North Meridian Road, Tallahassee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a fund to cover medical expenses at http://fletcherfamilyfundraiser.blogspot.com

Oh my gosh, this is so upsetting to me. I spoke with Tommy last in June 2010, and we talked about painting. I was between jobs then, and having been out of painting for so many years, forgot how to bid work. I had worked with Tommy from 1987-1990 with Jeff Lekinger and Sean Egan. I was in graduate school, and Tommy taught me alot. I have lived in Asia now since 2002, I last saw Tommy in 1999 when I was driving through Tallahassee back from Panama City honeymoon, and stopped at Meridian Woods. He couldnt see me in 2010 as he was busy on a job, but I remember clearly he told me he was going through some medical tests, and I wished him well. I was in Tallahassee to visit a friend.

Sorry for the long story, but I just looked him up online tonight (July 2012) and was shocked to read about his passing almost 2 years ago. I am a professor in Korea the past 2 years, but working with Tommy on those hot summer days in the 80's will always be special to me. He taught me so much.

Take care my friend, I'll remember you.

I have so many memories of wonderful times shared with my dear friend "Tommy". I have pictures from the 70's when we were all finding our way as young people. I helped him paint a few houses which did not last long because I wore more of the paint than was applied to the house. Few times in life can we truly call someone a friend, I have been blessed to call Tommy my friend.

To Tommy's Family:
I first met Tommy in the 7th grade at Cobb Jr. High School. We both played alto saxophones in the band for three years. I'll always have great memories of that time in both of our lives. As the years passed, I would see Tommy around town and he always had something pleasant to say to me. Each of us only has a few lifelong friends. I considered Tommy one of mine. I'll miss him.

Dear Tisha and family,

I was so sorry to learn of Tommy's passing. Due to a doctor's appointment and not learning about the memorial service until today, I could not attend, but I did note that many, many cars were parked at and near the church. I am sure that Tommy had many friends and family that will miss him terribly. My most heartfelt condolences, Lana Arnold, formerly with Tisha at SLAH

Tommy was well loved and extremely well thought of at Rickards. I always enjoyed being around him and his infectuous laugh. Several years ago I ran into Tommy in the North Carolina mountains at a breakfast spot. Talking with him for just a few minutes brought back wonderful memories of Tommy Fletcher, a great guy, who made everyone feel special. I will be lifting the Fletcher family up in prayer. I hope they will be comforted by their loving memories.

Dear Tisha and Kaytee, my heart goes out to you at this time. You have been faithful and we stand around you still--even though it feels like the floor has fallen out. I just lost my mother and some mornings I feel hollowed out inside but the Lord sends his sustainng angels to bear me up. To all of Tommy's family: Tommy was a younger school mate of mine at Rickards, along with Helen. Though not close friends, I do remember Tommy as being a nice, friendly guy. I know you are all heartbroken now, but hard as it may be, take comfort in the memories and love you all shared. No person is ever truly gone as long as someone remembers them...and will speak their name.

May the Lord bless and grant peace and acceptance to all who love Tommy.

Tisha, I am so terribly sorry for your loss, but rejoice that Tommy is pain-free and walking the golden streets of heaven. You were so incredibly blessed to have this man as your husband, and father of your amazing children. I have only met Kaytee, but if her brothers are even just half as wonderful, you and Tommy did a fabulous job. You are loved and prayed for in this time of shock and loss. One is never prepared, even when you know he is saved.
Love,
