Vernon Crotts Obituary

Vernon Franklin Crotts Sr. APALACHICOLA - Vernon Franklin Crotts Sr., 92, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008. Born May 20, 1915, in Monticello, Mississippi, Vernon was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. He was a commercial shrimper and worked the entire Gulf Coast, Mexico and South America. At one time he operated a fleet of seven boats. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing and gardening. He is survived by a son, Vernon Crotts Jr. of Monticello, Fla.; a granddaughter, Veronica Babich, and a great-grandson, Vernon Babich, of Tallahassee; two surviving sisters, Reva Feldman and Dorothy Abagis, both of Pensacola; Deborah Blaylock of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Billy Blaylock (wife Jeanette) of Aransas Pass, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Apalachicola, Fla., on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at 4 p.m. EST.
